WUNNAMURRA GORGE
Wunnamurra Gorge is one of the most spectacular natural features on Mt Elizabeth Station and is best suited to experienced four-wheel-drive travellers.
Located approximately 12 kilometres from the homestead, the extreme 4WD track is part of the adventure. A walk into the gorge leads to breathtaking lookout points, flowing swimming holes and deep, cool water beneath a waterfall.
Often described by visitors as unforgettable, Wunnamurra Gorge showcases the raw beauty and scale of the Kimberley landscape.
A working CATTLE STATION
Mt Elizabeth Station is first and foremost a working cattle property. Guests are staying on active pastoral land, where cattle operations continue alongside tourism.
This working environment provides a genuine insight into the scale and realities of life on a Kimberley station and forms an essential part of what makes Mt Elizabeth unique.
Guests are welcome to visit the cattle yards at certain times, please see our friendly reception for information.
AROUND THE HOMESTEAD
The homestead grounds provide a welcoming place to relax after a long day on the Gibb River Road. Guests are invited to enjoy the peaceful setting, utilise our free wifi, visit the bar for a refreshment, meet fellow travellers around the communal firepit, and enjoy the relaxed setting of station life.
Feeding the station animals and spending time in the gardens are simple pleasures that make the homestead a central part of the Mt Elizabeth experience.
Swimming Holes, Walking Trails and Nature
A series of swimming holes are located a short walk or drive from the homestead and offer a refreshing way to cool off in the Kimberley heat. Walking trails around the homestead range from short strolls to longer walks and provide opportunities to explore the surrounding bushland, observe birdlife and enjoy the natural landscape at a relaxed pace
WARLA GORGE
Warla Gorge, also known as Hann River Gorge or “The Beach”, is located approximately 20 kilometres from the homestead. The drive follows an easier four-wheel-drive track and is followed by a short walk to the water’s edge.
With sandy riverbanks, gentle pools and shaded areas beneath gum trees, Warla Gorge is ideal for swimming, relaxing, fishing or exploring the river upstream and downstream. Its accessible nature makes it a popular half-day or afternoon trip for guests staying at the station
